The year is almost at an end, and so I’d like to use the blog this month to reflect on the 25th SAP User Group Conference at the ICC in Birmingham which Floatdene featured for the first time.

It was great to be able to meet up with customers new and old, together with our partners at Atos and SAP Education.  Also, we saw a few familiar faces among the speakers, and the other companies exhibiting – the SAP industry is a small world!

Other than Nina Conti’s brilliantly funny set at the Gala Dinner, another highlight of the three-day event was the “demo jam” which was a 5-minute speed demo to the whole user conference with some of the competitive elements of “Strictly Come Dancing” and “The X Factor” –although thankfully no-one from Floatdene had to sing or dance!

We decided to cover SAP Workforce Performance Builder in 5 minutes – not an easy task!  We included capture, editing, translation, publishing and in-application assistance via the Navigator, but we had to leave out a whole lot more.  We had a very positive response from those who attended and a lot of people expressed an interest at our stand later in the day.  Our congratulations to the winner DJ Adams from Bluefin who coded a Fiori app for sales reporting live on stage.

Floatdene also sponsored the Training Workstream and we were delighted to welcome one of our customers – Smith & Nephew – to the conference to share their experiences with localising training materials for a multi-national rollout (Floatdene was responsible for setting up their GlobalASAP based training approach using their existing installation of uPerform).

Speaking of uPerform it was great to meet up with fellow conference newbies Ancile, and learn more about the latest release of uPerform.  In particular, we thought that the “Crowd-Sourced” authoring functionality looks really exciting and we’ll be using the latest version of uPerform at one of our customer assignments in the near future weeks so are really looking forward to seeing how this compares with WPB’s “Instant Producer”.   Watch this space for updates!

Anyway, that’s the final blog from Floatdene for this year.   We’ll be back in early 2014 with our new whitepaper on user competency and training, and much more.
